Canary Islands, Wealth Of Sub-Tropical Vacation Possibilities

Seven islands make up the archipelago known as the Canary Islands. These are La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventara, and Lanzarote. Because they are an autonomous region of Spain, many tourists do not realise that they lay in the Atlantic ocean, 750 miles south of the Mediterranean and only a few miles outside of the tropic of cancer.

This location makes the islands the only technically European resort to provide a guarantee of winter sun. Flights from British and other northern European airports take between three and a half and four and a half hours to transfer holidaymakers from a world of cold, winter gloom to a sub-tropical paradise of perpetual spring. Yet despite the islands' proximity to Africa and the tropics, summer time is surprisingly mild, being just a few degrees warmer than winter. The weather never feels like a hot, African summer, resembling instead, a warm, Mediterranean spring. Little wonder that the Islands were once known as the Fortunate Isles!

This remarkable air-induced boom in tourism since 1960. Although this is undoubtedly ruined some parts of the islands of large, pristine nature is, almost everywhere. Tenerife and Gran Canaria have more than the growth of mass tourism than other islands suffered. On Gran Canaria mass tourism was originally limited to Las Palmas, the capital, but to quickly develop a spread of Maspalomas and PlayaIngles. These are both resorts on the south coast, where weather conditions are generally sunnier than in the north where Las Palmas is situated. On Tenerife, tourism spread in a similar pattern from the northern city of Puerto de la Cruz to the south coast, making its most devastating impact at Playa de las Americas. Despite these examples of unchecked and somewhat uncouth development, many areas of the coasts of both islands remain free of overly unpleasant urbanization with low impact tourist development having been achieved remarkably well. Non coastal areas are all virtually untouched by tourist development.

Of the remaining five islands, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote enjoy substantial tourism without any places having been over developed along the lines of Playa de las Americas or Playa del Ingles. The main tourist resorts on Fuerteventura are Corralejo and Jandia. Corralejo is in the North and popular with British tourists whilst Jandia is in the south and mainly visited by German holidaymakers. In Lanzarote the most developed tourist resorts are Costa Teguise, Playa Blanca and Playa del Carmen whilst the islands capital, Arrecife is home to over half of Lanzarote's resident population.

The three small islands of La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro have been pretty much unaffected by tourism. Of the three, La Palma receives the most number of visitors every year, but even this island has little in the way of tourist resorts compared to the larger islands. All three islands are scenically very attractive with dramatic cliffs and towering peaks. They are most certainly worth visiting by anyone who enjoys unspoilt countryside, and spectacular scenery. They are not without some very interesting history either. La Gomera was the last place that Columbus set foot on before reaching the Americas in 1492 and it was from El Hierro that he set off on his second voyage to America in 1493.

Whether your idea of the perfect vacation is peace and quiet or sunny beaches and good night life, the Canary islands have it. Even if you want different daily doses of get-away-from-it tranquility mixed with man-made tourist attractions, the extremes of both can often be found on the larger islands within only a few miles of each other. Add to this the year round sub tropical climate, and you have in the Canary islands just about the best of all possible vacation choices

Naturist Vacation In Vera Playa, Spain

Vera Playa gets its name from the town of Vera which is located in the eastern, coastal, region of Almeria in Andalusia, southern Spain. Playa is the Spanish word for beach. The stretch of coast that Vera Playa is located on is called the Costa de Almeria. The beach is fairly coarse golden sand and stretches, unbroken, for several kilometres. One kilometre of the beach is designated as officially nudist and it is in the area of this section that the fully naturist resort of Vera Playa has been built.

Over the years, since its humble origin as a camp site, development has been continuous and the resort is now Europe's second largest and most modern naturist resort. It is comprised of twelve urbanizacions - a Spanish word that describes communities of privately owned properties that share common facilities such as swimming pools, gardens, maintenance, cleaning etc. The urbanizacions in Vera Playa are served by shops, bars and restaurants within the naturist area. This means that wherever you stay within the resort, it is okay to walk from your apartment to the pool, the garden, the beach, the bar, the restaurant or the shop without getting dressed. As well as most of the properties in the urbanizacions being available for holiday rental, Vera Playa offers one other form of holiday accommodation; a fully naturist hotel. The hotel was one of the first developments of the resort to be built and backs right onto to the beach.

How to book holiday accommodation in the Vera Playa naturist resort:

You can find plenty of web-sites offering holiday accommodations in the resort by typing the key words "Vera Playa Naturist" into the Google search query. Use some of the better sites to get an overview of the resort and its urbanizacions but search deeper to find sites that feature specific, privately owned apartments. These, can often be cheaper and it is usually possible to negotiate the rent by emailing the owner. Last year we found an apartment that we particularly liked listed on several of the larger sites with a price of 400 euros per week for the period we wanted to take our vacation. With a little more searching, we were able to find the owner's own website who we then emailed and managed to negotiate with, a three week period for only 900 euros, saving us 100 euros per week. This method does preclude the possibility of paying online by credit card however, because private owners rarely have credit card facilities.

The weather in Vera Playa:

The weather in this part of Spain is about as good as it gets. Summer rainfall is extremely rare and sunny days are practically continuous throughout June, July and August. Even the spring weather provides plenty of days that are warm and sunny enough for sunbathing much of the time, whilst autumn often retains a good deal of the summer heat right up until November. The chance of some heavy rain increases around this time and there can be some fairly cold weather during the winter months. Even in December, January and February, however, there are often days when it warms up sufficiently for those who live in the resort to strip off and lay out for a few hours soaking in the winter sun.

Things to do around Vera Playa:

It has to said that the scenery in the immediate vicinity of Vera Playa is not particularly inspiring. Neither are the nearby towns of Vera and Garrucha the least bit picturesque or culturally significant in any way. The nearest place that is worth seeing is Mojacca, a white hilltop town with over 2000 years of history. It is located about ten kilometres west of Vera Playa. A few kilometres further in the same direction is a beautiful area of protected parkland called the Parque de Natural Cabo de Gata. Its hills, villages and many secluded coves are most definitely worth exploring. There is also an area of saltpans where thousands of migrating birds, including flamingos, stop en route to and from Africa every year. Also within easy reach of Vera Playa is the popular tourist attraction of Granada.

However, the main reason for having a holiday in Vera Playa is to sunbathe and enjoy relaxing, nude leisure in this family oriented, naturist resort. That and the very high standard of self catering accommodation is the reason we will be returning again this summer - our fifth successive year.

Six reasons to choose a vacation for nudists

It 's that time of year when my beloved and I rest for an evening to open a bottle of wine and discuss one of the most important events in the Egger family calendar, Pentecost main annual holiday.

As always, the first decision we need to do, if you vote or not naked. As confirmed nudists, naturists course for a holiday, or at least a vacation, you can get to in time for the naked part. However, it is not an automatic choice and this yearThere is a particularly tempting selection of textile rental deals. There is a Mediterranean cruise, the attractive appearance and the Rocky Mountain Rail Adventure takes my eye. Maybe we need to support one of the countries devastated by the tsunami in the Indian Ocean on Boxing Day, or stay at home and renew (ugh!) However, it is likely that the choice was naked, and are six reasons.

Reason # 1

Getting naked, even for a short period of time, can help save your life!

I'm not overly dramaticAmazon.de. Looks like you got your clothes car disposals, restrictive, preventing the natural flow of blood and lymph fluid can be a real lifesaver.

According to the researchers, who wears a bra can cause all sorts of discomfort, pain and even breast cancer. The (real preliminary) research shows that women who wear bras more than twelve hours per day out of bed, 21 times more likely to suffer from breast cancer than those who wear bras less than those obtained12 hours a day. And you hear this, those who wear bras even to bed are 125 times more likely to suffer from breast cancer than those who do not wear bras for everyone! In cultures where women do not wear bras, the incidence of breast cancer or less the same for men - virtually zero!

And not only women who are in danger. The same study shows that testicular cancer in men can be caused by tight briefs.

Thus, even the sale of bra and panties, even for a short timefor your holiday, you can hold much healthier.

Reason # 2

Less clothes = less luggage = less hassle.

Have you ever noticed how when a holiday you can never have enough clothes seem packaging? So how do you spend the equivalent of the cost of the vacation on essential garments mainly due to the holidays? But during your stay, you are getting the top with double clothes that do not have to end? It 'scary, is not it? Do not ask me why it works - probablyinexplicable act of nature - but it happens every time

Except for a naturist holiday.

And 'as if nudist holidays turn natural laws on their head. The race to cover every eventuality clothes-wise, with a disdain for apparel bordering on the obsessive replaced. My normal tissue both sides of the packing list is reduced to only four lines, namely:

· Clothing suitable for the trip.

· Smart enough slinky dresses for eveningWear.

Shorts · / skirt / shirt for all non-nudist (referred to in nude-speak as "textile") travel.

° and, um ... well it really was.

The immediate effect of this textile cutting is that my luggage, which is normally equal in volume to a medium-class cars, only a small suitcase there. (OK, two if the other items such as hairdryers rescue contains, including make-up, creams, lipsticks, jewelry, etc. - God has a girlfriendFor their best, even in the buff is not it?) Not only does this get to make the implementation easier and faster, away from the baggage carousel, you also save on tips. The generosity that would otherwise be distributed only to my entourage to the hotel is a family of five for a month for the transport of feed. A spin-off from this is that less clothing also means less packing and unpacking, more time drinking wine and dozing by the pool, the whole idea of a holiday in the firstPlace.

Well, for me anyway

Reason # 3

Do not scrub the skin.

Our skin is wonderful. It is not only the largest organ of our body, but it fits perfectly (OK. Sometimes some of us may be just a little 'more than necessary, but you know what I mean.)

Fortunately, it is also easier to keep clean tissue. My husband has a special fondness for pancakes - you know you can buy those things pancakes filled with kiosks your trip around the Mediterranean? Had'Eat em all day if I did. Unfortunately, it also has a tendency to use the syrup to fill his face, which led to more than a trunk full of shirts ruin would have lost.

A vacation nudist carefully avoids this problem. While maple syrup may not be particularly easy to remove from a naked chest - especially a very hairy man - it is much easier than washing of silk or cotton. Nor can one place, except for a red bruise on his upper body afterSyrup from the chest hair was removed, but the pay is the price of men for being so clumsy. (For the sake of equality, I must admit that this is not just a male character. After one or two bottles of wine have been known to give up my chest with something as gay, rendering any affected clothing null and distribute the load process. But I insist that this is not clumsiness on my part, but simply the result of my tired and emotional. So there.)

Reason #4

It makes more sense than on a nude beach wearing a swimsuit.

Let's face it. bathing costume serves no useful purpose. It does not prevent us dry and warm, and even help us to swim: studies by the West German Olympic swim team has shown that obstructs a swimmer's bathing suits. I'm not even saying goodbye. Ticks and lice that bite or sting of the sea and find a place to hide a naked body can be easily trapped in a swimsuit.

So why do we wear 'em

Topreserve their modesty? Not really. days' mens These costumes are short enough but ladies bathers are positively small, with less fuel than a small handkerchief. Bikini tops afford less coverage than two postage stamps on a string, and in any case seldom worn on European beaches. Bikini funds only to cover the genitals but often leave the bottom exposed.

This also means that they have no protection from harmful UV rays of the sun.

But according to a surveyannually by the Ladies' Home Journal Americans spend $ 900,000,000 swimsuits, although eighty-five percent of all swimsuits purchased never touch the water.

Does not make much sense does not it?

Reason 5

Nudist resorts are nice places with nice people

Everyone knows that nudists real nudists are very nice. What makes it particularly beautiful nudist remains a mystery. Perhaps nudism attracts the nicest people in the first place, or perhaps the practice ofNudism somehow improves people. Who knows? And really, who cares? Let's just enjoy the situation. You can leave an unlocked car at a nudist resort and taken nothing. nudist resorts and beaches are generally orderly, good positions. Even in a nudist holiday city such as Cap d'Agde, with about 40,000 people at the height of the season, there is no threat of the atmosphere, violence and general loutishness that mars other hot holiday destinations. Every type of crime iscomplex almost non-existent, and most large, even Cap d'Agde, need no more than minimal security.

You do not get that at Benidorm or Palm Springs!

Reason # 6

Nudist entrepreneurs need our support.

Despite the esteem in which the bare Business Travel World is about four hundred million dollars a year and growing fast, the nudist holiday industry is still a fragile plant that needs encouragement and support. The fine nudist resorts that make up the nudist holiday todayare far from the fields of early crying in a not too distant past, and by engaging the new generation of tourists that require a certain standard of comfort, are largely responsible for the growth of the nude leisure industry. But quality costs money, and these places are businesses, not charities. If not them, they will close, and we will continue to support the old joke out of turn, run down, the connections make-do-and-repair yesterday. As the old sayingit is necessary to use 'em or Lose' Em

So it looks as if you choose naked once again this year. All you have to do is decide where. Wait a minute. I just had a fantastic idea. Maybe we can support the Tsunami appeal and please ourselves at the same time naked in Thailand. This is it! Brilliant. Well, where are the leaflets ...?
