Fuerteventura has long stretches of golden sands which are ideal for sun worshipers. There is a very relaxed rule about topless sunbathing and some beaches are designated for those who want to bare all. Everyone is welcome on these beaches, fully clothed or not. In the major resorts such as Corralejo and Morro Jable it is common place but not so common at Caleta de Fuste.
The following is a list of smaller beaches where nudism is allowed:
Alzada, El Burro, El Moro, El Dormidero, Los Matos, Playa de Olivia, El Caseron. El Viejo, El Pozo, Punta Blanco, Beatriz, Mal Nombre Tierra Dorada, Sotavento, La Solapa and Playa Mujer
There a few things you should take into consideration if you are visiting a naturist beach for the first time.
Beaches are divided up into areas, some are just used by families, others for nudists, if there are not signs clearly visible informing you that a beach is for nudists, it is a good idea to get local knowledge to find out which are. You may have to walk through a family area, so be discreet by covering up. Nudists beaches may be off the beaten track, take a bag to put your rubbish in to bring back with you, there may not be rubbish bins provided.
Once you are in a nudist area, respect other peoples privacy at all times. Do not stare, taking photographs or videos is not allowed, unless of course you have permission. Crude behavior or language will not be tolerated, if you have it happen to you, have a quiet word with the person/s responsible, they may not understand the ethic behind naturism.
Nudism does not mean that sexual behavior will be tolerated. Sexual acts in public are illegal and you could be arrested. Children practice nudism along with their parents so any such behavior is not appropriate and will offend. Just behave normally, as you would if you were clothed, if your behavior would cause of fence on a clothed beach then it would on a naturist one. If there are bars or restaurants then you should always take a towel to sit on for reasons of hygiene, to protect others from suntan creams and oils, sweat etc.
Don't worry too much about fitting in, just enjoy the freedom and experience of being naked in a wonderful environment. Naturists are usually easy going, laid back people. if you don't behave outrageously then you will fit in and be accepted.
Exposing your body more than usual means that you run the extra risk of burning, make sure that you use a very high factor of sun cream and apply it regularly. An insect repellent spray would be a good idea too, being bitten in a very sensitive place could ruin your holiday!
